We are seeking a reliable, friendly and customer-focused Front of House and Bartender to join our busy restaurant, Sigree Indian Cuisine, in Auckland. The successful applicant will primarily be responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, taking orders, providing customer service and maintaining the service areas. The role will also support general front-of-house operations, including taking food orders, serving meals, processing payments and assisting customers during busy restaurant service.

Job Description

1. Welcome customers and provide friendly and professional service throughout their visit.
2. Take customer orders for alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages accurately using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
3. Prepare, mix and serve a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to customer orders.
4. Pour and serve beer, wine, spirits, soft drinks, juices, tea, coffee and other beverages as required.
5. Prepare basic mixed drinks and cocktails in accordance with customer orders and established recipes.
6. Ensure beverages are presented appropriately and served promptly to the correct customer or table.
7. Maintain adequate supplies of beverages, ice, garnishes, glassware and other bar items.
8. Restock the bar, refrigerators, beverage stations and service areas as required.
9. Assist with receiving, checking and storing beverage deliveries.
10. Monitor beverage stock levels and report shortages, damaged stock or other issues to the manager.
11. Maintain clean and hygienic bar counters, beverage equipment, glassware, refrigerators and service areas.
12. Assist with setting up and closing down the bar and beverage service areas.
13. Operate the POS system and accurately process cash, EFTPOS and other electronic payments.
14. Follow responsible alcohol service practices and establishment licensing requirements at all times.
15. Respond to customer requests and beverage-related enquiries professionally and refer complaints or more complex issues to the manager.
16. Take food orders and provide customers with information about menu items, ingredients and available options where required.
17. Serve food and beverages promptly and ensure orders are delivered to the correct customers and tables.
18. Coordinate with kitchen and restaurant staff to ensure food and beverage orders are communicated accurately and served in a timely manner.
19. Clear, clean and reset tables and assist in maintaining a clean and welcoming dining area.
20. Assist with takeaway and delivery orders, including checking orders for accuracy before collection or dispatch.
21. Restock tableware, takeaway packaging and other front-of-house supplies as required.
22. Assist with opening and closing duties and general restaurant service activities.
23. Follow food safety, hygiene, workplace health and safety and restaurant procedures at all times.
24. Work cooperatively with kitchen and restaurant staff to maintain efficient service during busy periods.
25. Assist with other general bar, beverage and front-of-house duties as required.

Qualifications & Experience

The applicant must have either:

* A NZQF Level 2 or 3 qualification; OR
* At least one (1) year of relevant full-time work experience.

Either the qualification or relevant work experience requirement is required.

Skills and Other Requirements

* Previous experience in a bar, restaurant, hospitality or customer service environment is preferred.
* Basic knowledge of beverage preparation, mixing and service.
* Knowledge of responsible alcohol service and establishment licensing requirements.
* Good customer service and communication skills.
* Friendly, professional and approachable manner.
* Ability to accurately take customer orders and process payments.
* Ability to work efficiently and maintain attention to detail during busy service periods.
* Ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
* Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively as part of a hospitality team.
* Ability to safely handle glassware, beverages, bar equipment and stock.
* Basic knowledge of food safety and workplace health and safety practices.
* Must have valid status to work in New Zealand.
* Clean character check.
* Willing to undergo drug and alcohol testing.
* Must be available to work evenings, weekends, public holidays and split shifts as per roster requirements.
* Minimum of 30 hours per week.
