Seeking a confident Restaurant Manager to oversee restaurant and bar operations

Bombay House 39 is a family-owned restaurant in Upper Hutt offering a wide variety of North Indian, South Indian, Bombay Indo-Chinese and Malaysian cuisine.
We are looking for a confident Restaurant Manager to oversee our restaurant and bar operations, lead our team, and help maintain a high standard of service and business performance. This is a full-time, permanent position offering a minimum of 32 guaranteed hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the restaurant and bar
- Recruit, train, supervise and support staff, including preparing weekly rosters and coordinating shifts
- Plan and manage budgets, costs and business targets
- Monitor stock levels, order food and beverages, manage inventory and liaise with suppliers
- Assist with menu planning and development
- Manage reservations and oversee the overall customer dining experience
- Handle customer enquiries, feedback and complaints professionally
- Oversee cash handling, POS procedures, daily takings, and opening and closing procedures
- Support marketing initiatives, promotions and opportunities to grow the business
- Report to the business owners on staffing, costs, sales and overall restaurant performance
About you
We are looking for a hands-on Restaurant Manager who thrives in a busy hospitality environment, leads by example and brings a positive and professional approach to the team.
You’ll also have:
- A Level 4 or higher certificate in Hospitality, Hospitality Management, Business Management, or
- A bachelor’s degree in any field, or
- At least 2 years’ relevant work experience in the restaurant / hospitality industry.
- A current Manager’s Certificate, supported by a Licence Controller Qualification (LCQ) is preferred
- Strong leadership and staff management skills
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Good organisational and time-management skills
- The ability to work effectively and stay organised in a busy restaurant environment
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required
