We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) to join our new Day Procedure Unit (DPU). This is an exciting opportunity to play a key leadership role in the clinical management and coordination of a modern operating theatre environment, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care.

As the Clinical Nurse Coordinator, you will provide clinical leadership and operational oversight of theatre services, supporting multidisciplinary teams to achieve exceptional patient outcomes while maintaining efficient theatre utilisation and service delivery.

About the Role

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day clinical management of the operating theatre within the Day Procedure Unit. Working closely with other CNCs, surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses, and allied health professionals, you will ensure the smooth coordination of patient flow, theatre scheduling, efficiency, and clinical standards.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing clinical leadership and coordination within theatre
• Supporting safe, efficient, and effective operating theatre management.
• Coordinating patient flow throughout the perioperative journey.
• Ensuring compliance with clinical policies, standards, and best practice.
• Supporting, mentoring, and developing nursing staff.
• Managing resources effectively to meet service demands.
• Participating in quality improvement initiatives and accreditation activities.
• Fostering a culture of patient-centred care, safety, efficiency and continuous improvement.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate.
• Significant perioperative nursing experience, including operating theatre practice.
• Demonstrated leadership and clinical coordination experience.
• Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• A commitment to quality improvement and patient safety.
• The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience in theatre scheduling, resource management, and service coordination is highly desirable.

Salary Range

This role is covered by the terms and conditions of the expired NZNO CEA and the salary will be in accordance with the DSN Pay Scale, between $114,025 and $121,444 p.a dependant on relevant experience.
