Registered Nurse - Paediatric Ward

Join a dedicated and supportive paediatric team providing care across our two inpatient services:

• Special Care Nursery caring for neonates and unwell newborns.
• General Paediatric Ward providing inpatient care for infants, children, and adolescents.

In this role, you will:

• Assess, diagnose, and provide care for a wide range of health conditions affecting pēpi (babies), tamariki (children), and rangatahi (adolescents).
• Deliver high-quality, family-centred care within both neonatal and paediatric settings.
• Support young patients and their whānau with concerns relating to health, behaviour, growth, and development.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and their families.

Timaru Hospital is a vital regional facility in South Canterbury known for combining a community-focused, provincial scale with comprehensive secondary-level care, a 24-hour district trauma service, local oncology and critical care units, and a unique supportive lifestyle environment for its medical staff. The hospital provides secondary services to the district population of approximately 50,000 people, has 130 beds.

About you

• Current registration with the New Zealand Nursing Council and a current APC,
• Previous experience in Paediatric or NICU nursing
• Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with other professionals
• The ability to be adaptable, flexible and solution focused
• Experience in a paediatric setting with prior involvement in child and family health advantageous
• A passion and focus for working with families/whanau with compassion and kindness

Salary Range

This role is covered by the terms and conditions of NZNO CEA and the salary will be in accordance with the RN Pay Scale, between step 2 ($83,725 p.a) and step 7 ($109,407 p.a) pro rata dependant on relevant experience.
