About the Role

We have multiple permanent part-time opportunities available for motivated and compassionate Health Care Assistants to join our ATR/ASU Ward team at Whanganui Hospital.

As a Health Care Assistant, you will work alongside Registered Nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team to support the delivery of high-quality patient care. This rewarding role involves assisting patients with activities of daily living, mobility support, rehabilitation activities, and maintaining a safe, clean, and supportive care environment.

You will play an important role in supporting patients throughout their recovery journey while ensuring their dignity, comfort and wellbeing remain at the centre of care.

About the Team/Service/Location

The ATR/ASU Ward provides specialised assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and acute stroke care for patients requiring a range of inpatient services. Working within a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to delivering high-quality, person-centred care that promotes recovery, independence and the best possible health outcomes for patients and their whānau.

About You

You will have:

• A genuine passion for caring for and supporting people.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• A positive attitude, flexibility and a strong work ethic.
• Good organisational and time-management skills.
• Previous experience in healthcare, aged residential care, rehabilitation, disability support, or community care is desirable.
• NZQA Level 3 Health and Wellbeing qualification (or a willingness to work towards obtaining this qualification) is advantageous.
• A commitment to culturally safe practice and achieving equitable health outcomes.
