About the role

As an IPC Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will provide clinical leadership, expert advice and coordination of the IPC programme, ensuring alignment with Ngā Paerewa (NZS 8134:2021) and national guidance. A full outline of the role is provided in the job description.

About the team

You will be part of a supportive Quality and Patient Safety team, working alongside advisors and fellow CNSs to improve outcomes across the organisation.

About you

You will be passionate about patient safety and system improvement, with the ability to influence and lead across multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and coordinating IPC programmes and initiatives
• Surveillance, analysis and reporting of infections and outbreaks
• Providing specialist IPC advice across services within the RN scope
• Leading outbreak and incident management
• Delivering education and building staff capability
• Supporting audit, quality improvement and governance activities

We are looking for:

• Registered Nurse with a current NZ Practising Certificate
• Minimum 5 years clinical experience
• Postgraduate qualification (PGCert/PGDip/Masters) in IPC or related field or working towards
• Senior nurse PDRP or working towards
• Strong leadership, communication and analytical skills
• Experience in education, audit and quality improvement

A Hand Hygiene Gold Auditor certification and full drivers licence are desirable.
