About the Role

As a Registered Nurse in the Day of Surgery Admissions and Discharges (DOSA) Unit, you will play a key role in preparing patients for surgery and supporting them through their discharge journey. You will use your clinical knowledge and assessment skills to deliver safe, high quality care, ensuring patients and their whānau are informed, supported and well prepared throughout their surgical experience.

Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will coordinate care, undertake comprehensive nursing assessments, develop care plans and provide health education that empowers patients to make informed decisions about their health. This role offers variety, professional growth and the opportunity to contribute to a service that is focused on delivering excellent patient experiences and outcomes.

About the Team/Service/Location

Our team of dedicated nurses and healthcare professionals in the Perioperative Unit work together to provide safe, efficient and patient focused care for people undergoing surgery. The DOSA service is an important part of the patient journey, ensuring patients are well prepared before surgery and supported as they return home.

Based at Hastings Hospital, you will join a collaborative and welcoming team that values professional development, clinical excellence and continuous improvement.

About you

As a Registered Nurse, you will bring strong clinical skills, a commitment to patient centred care and the ability to work effectively within a busy healthcare environment.

• Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate.
• At least three years of surgical ward or perioperative nursing experience.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong time management, organisational and communication skills.
• IV certification and CORE training, with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
