About the Role

We are seeking either a Registered Nurse or Registered Allied Health to join a Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) Team. Working primarily within the Emergency Department and across hospital services, you will identify and engage with people experiencing alcohol and other drug-related harm, providing screening, brief interventions, early support, and referral to appropriate treatment and recovery services. This is an exciting new service supporting our community and addiction services.

You will work collaboratively with emergency, hospital, mental health, addiction, primary care, and community services to support positive health outcomes, reduce harm, and improve access to ongoing care. About the Team/Service/Location

The SBIRT Team is part of Hawke's Bay Mental Health and Addiction Services and delivers early intervention and support for people affected by alcohol and other drug use. Working closely with the Emergency Department and wider hospital services, our team provides timely, evidence-based interventions that help connect people with the support they need.

Based in Hastings, you'll join a supportive and multidisciplinary team committed to improving health outcomes and reducing the impacts of alcohol and other drug-related harm across Hawke's Bay.

About You

We welcome applications from Registered Nurses and Registered Addiction Practitioners who bring:

• Current professional registration and a current Annual Practising Certificate.
• Experience working in addiction, mental health, or community based health services.
• A postgraduate qualification in addiction or mental health.
• Knowledge of alcohol and other drug interventions, recovery oriented practice, and harm reduction approaches.
• Strong assessment, communication, documentation, and relationship building skills.
• The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable:

• DAPAANZ registration.
• Experience working with co - existing mental health and addiction presentations.
• A current PDRP portfolio (for nursing applicants).
