4 flame Fusion Indian Restaurant is looking for an experienced 2 Indian Curry & Tandoor Chef to join our busy and professional kitchen team in Manawatu Feilding.
Shiv Private Limited t/a 4flame Fusion Indian Restaurant, located in Feilding, Manawatu, New Zealand, is a well-established restaurant renowned for its authentic Indian cuisine. We are currently looking for two skilled Indian Chefs to enhance our culinary team, where you will be instrumental in preparing traditional dishes that reflect our dedication to quality and authenticity.
The ideal candidates will have at least 3 years of experience working with Indian Cuisine in a restaurant or hotel environment, or a Level 4 qualification.
Key Culinary Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a diverse range of authentic Indian curries and tandoori dishes.
- Develop traditional curry bases, gravies, sauces, and marinades to enhance flavour profiles.
- Efficiently operate the tandoor, ensuring safety and optimal cooking conditions.
- Maintain consistent taste, quality, and presentation standards across all dishes served.
- Monitor ingredient quality and freshness, adjusting recipes as necessary for best results.
Food Preparation and Cooking Techniques
- Utilise traditional Indian cooking methods alongside modern techniques to create dishes.
- Prepare naan, roti, kebabs, tikka, and other tandoor items with precision and care.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff in food preparation and cooking procedures.
- Implement and enforce hygiene regulations and food safety practices in the kitchen.
- Demonstrate cooking techniques to ensure adherence to restaurant recipes and standards.
Quality Control and Staff Management
- Conduct regular quality checks on dishes during preparation and presentation stages.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to address food preparation issues promptly and effectively.
- Assist in selecting and training new kitchen staff to maintain culinary excellence.
- Oversee food storage procedures to minimize waste and maintain ingredient freshness.
- Work efficiently during peak service times, ensuring timely dish delivery and quality.
Your Culinary Skills & Certifications
- Proficient in Indian cooking techniques, including the preparation of curries and tandoori dishes.
- Strong knowledge of Indian spices, marinades, and traditional cooking methods.
- Experience with tandoor operation and preparation, ensuring safety and efficiency.
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment such as grinders, ovens, and food processors.
- Ability to create and modify recipes to enhance flavour and presentation of dishes.
- Good communication and organisational skills, essential for teamwork in a busy kitchen.
- Knowledge of food safety certifications and compliance with local health regulations.
Tools & Equipment
- Proficient use of tandoor ovens for authentic cooking.
- Experience with commercial kitchen equipment like deep fryers and grills.
- Skilled in using food processors and spice grinders for preparation.
- Knowledge of kitchen safety equipment and fire safety protocols.
- Familiarity with temperature control devices for food safety.
- Ability to maintain and troubleshoot kitchen appliances.
- Understanding of food storage systems and inventory management tools.
Compensation
The hourly wage for this position ranges from $25 to $35, depending on skills and experience
A minimum of 30 hours of work per week is guaranteed, and up to maximum of 45 hours per week.
