About the Role

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Taranaki is seeking a part-time Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Emergency Department at Taranaki Base Hospital. Working within our new Fast Track area, you will independently assess, investigate, treat and discharge suitable patients presenting with minor injuries and illnesses. This semi-autonomous role is supported by Emergency Medicine Specialists and provides an opportunity to help develop a responsive, patient-focused Fast Track service.

About the Team/Service/Location

Our busy regional Emergency Department provides care for more than 40,000 patients each year. You will join a supportive multidisciplinary team working in a modern, purpose-built department, including a dedicated six-room Fast Track area designed to improve timely care and patient flow for people with lower-acuity conditions.

About You

The candidate must have:

  • A minimum of four years' emergency nursing experience.
  • A formal qualification in advanced patient assessment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Demonstrated ongoing commitment to postgraduate education.
  • The ability to share your experience and knowledge and teach other staff.
  • Experience in senior Emergency Department nursing roles.
  • An Emergency Department Clinical Nurse Specialist postgraduate qualification.
  • A postgraduate nursing diploma, or current progress towards one.
  • A proficient or expert portfolio, or current progress towards one.
