Receptionist - Inpatient
We have an opportunity for a confident Receptionist to join our busy Inpatient Receptionist team at Waikato Hospital, located at 183 Pembroke Street in Hamilton.
This is a frontline Ward Receptionist position where your core function will be receptionist, providing customer service and administrative support. Please note hours of work are 7am to 3.30pm and the successful candidate will need to be available to work these hours.
You will be working in a busy fast paced environment where a calm, methodical approach will be key, along with effective organisational skills and a passion for helping people.
Key responsibilities:
- welcoming patients and visitors
- answering phone calls and responding to enquiries
- liaising with medical staff
- capturing patient flow information
- assisting patients with completing necessary forms and documentation
- maintaining a clean and calm receptionist area
- ordering office supplies for the Ward
The Inpatient Receptionist is committed to front desk operations in the ward, and is responsible for greeting, admitting, discharging, and transfer of patients staying within the ward, and managing patient records. They ensure the smooth running of the reception area and provide essential support to healthcare staff. Our success is driven by the level of care and service provided to patients and their whanau.
To be considered for this role, you will need to be able to demonstrate the following skills, experience and attributes:
- Previous experience in a front facing receptionist or customer service role, as well as administration experience
- Ideally this will include experience in a health care or medical setting
- At least Intermediate level computer skills and confidence using Microsoft products
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to demonstrate initiative and a strong desire to help others
- Comfortable working in a front facing role dealing with people from all walks of life
- Ability to work autonomously whilst still being a supportive team player
- Calm under pressure with excellent time management and organisational skills
