About CHUN Ltd

Chun Ltd is an Auckland-based company currently seeking two full-time Cooks to join our team.

The successful candidates will work 30–50 hours per week in a busy kitchen environment and will assist the Head Chef with food preparation, cooking, stock management and general kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Chef with planning the quantity and types of ingredients required and checking the quality and freshness of ingredients.
  • Prepare and portion ingredients for cooking and assist the Head Chef with food preparation and cooking.
  • Operate and adjust the temperature of cooking equipment, including ovens, as required.
  • Assist the Head Chef with training and guiding kitchen staff and apprentices in food preparation and cooking procedures.
  • Season and prepare food according to customer requirements and dietary needs.
  • Plate and portion cooked food into appropriate plates or containers and ensure food is presented attractively.
  • Monitor and manage ingredient stocks to help prevent shortages, waste or spoilage.
  • Discuss menu design, dish preparation and menu planning with the Head Chef and Restaurant Manager.
  • Maintain food hygiene, kitchen cleanliness and workplace health and safety standards.
  • Perform other kitchen-related duties as reasonably required by the Head Chef or Restaurant Manager.

Requirements

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • At least one year of full-time work experience in the food service or hospitality industry, or a relevant NZ Level 4 or higher qualification.
  • Candidates holding a Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in any field will also be considered.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions.
  • A responsible, reliable and positive attitude towards work.
  • Good physical fitness and the ability to work in a busy kitchen environment.
  • A good understanding of food hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
  • No criminal convictions.
