About the Role

We are looking for a confident registered nurse with a passion for supporting the safe provision of care that utilizes medicines and vascular access devices. You will achieve this through product review and promotion, research and review of evidence and the introduction and support of best practice, and staff education and in practice mentoring. Along with this, you will provide direct patient care in a variety of settings including placing peripherally inserted Central Catheter (PICC) lines and other types of vascular access.

Focus on care delivery providing specialist nursing/midwifery care and expertise, both in direct care delivery and in support to other staff in the management of a defined patient group/area of specialty practice

Researching, evaluating, developing and implementing standards of nursing/midwifery practice in the specific area of practice

Lead the development of pathways, protocols and guidelines in the specific area of practice

Assess and prioritize patient referrals so that they receive treatment in a timely manner

Insert PICC and other vascular devices

Follow up with patients post-insertion

Required skills and experience to be considered for this role:

Current APC for the registered scope

Minimum of a post graduate certificate, with the intention to progress

Ideally proficient or expert on the PDRP

Demonstrated interest in research and evidence-based practice

Able to quickly build therapeutic relationships with patients and whanau in a relaxed way to support them during the procedure

Expert and confident practitioner in the placement of PICC lines and peripheral IV

Experience and confidence utilizing ultrasound guided peripheral IV placement

Hold all relevant Medicine Management Certification, in particular Central Venous Access Device (CVAD) certification and Implanted Port Certification would be a bonus but not essential

Fast learner

Strong attention to detail in their clinical practice

Confident to work independently while also working within a supportive team

Enjoys supporting others to excel

Well organized with excellent verbal, written and digital skills
