About the Role

As a Nurse Educator, you will play a key role in developing, implementing, and evaluating clinical education programmes that support safe, evidence based nursing practice and improve patient outcomes. Working as part of the Professional Development Unit, you will support nurses and health care assistants to build their knowledge, skills, and confidence across a range of inpatient and outpatient services.

This is a highly influential role where you will work closely with clinical leaders and frontline staff to identify learning needs, develop educational resources, support orientation programmes, and deliver training that enhances clinical capability. You will also provide coaching, mentorship, and professional guidance, helping to foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and excellence in patient care.

This position provides an excellent opportunity to influence nursing practice across a wide range of clinical specialties while contributing to workforce development initiatives that support the future of healthcare delivery in Hawke's Bay.

About the Team/Service/Location

The Professional Development Unit (PDU) brings together education and workforce development functions to support nursing excellence across the organisation. Based in Hastings, this role works across a range of inpatient wards and outpatient departments, collaborating with nursing leaders, educators, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high quality education and professional development opportunities.

About you

As a Nurse Educator, you will bring:

• Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate
• A relevant postgraduate qualification, or a commitment to ongoing postgraduate study
• At least five years of recent clinical nursing experience
• Experience supporting education, training, coaching, or professional development activities
• Strong communication, facilitation, and relationship building skills
• The ability to work effectively across multiple clinical areas and with diverse stakeholder groups
• A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and improving equitable health outcomes
• A passion for developing others and supporting excellence in nursing practice
