About the Role

As a Nurse Practitioner - Fast Track Clinic, Emergency Department, you will work both autonomously and collaboratively to deliver advanced clinical care for patients presenting with acute illness and injury. As the lead healthcare provider, you will undertake comprehensive assessments, diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions, request and interpret diagnostic investigations, and determine appropriate treatment and discharge plans.

This is an exciting opportunity to practise at the top of your scope while making a meaningful impact on patient flow and access to care within the Emergency Department. You will combine advanced clinical expertise with leadership, education, and quality improvement activities, while supporting equitable health outcomes and contributing to the ongoing development of emergency nursing practice.

About the Team/Service/Location

The Emergency Department at Hawke's Bay Hospital provides urgent and emergency care to a diverse population across the region. Our Fast Track Clinic focuses on the assessment and management of patients with acute but less complex presentations, helping to ensure safe, timely, and effective care.

Based in Hastings, you will join a highly skilled multidisciplinary team of nurses, Nurse Practitioners, doctors, and allied health professionals who are committed to delivering high quality, patient centred care while fostering a supportive and collaborative working environment.

About you

As a Nurse Practitioner, you will bring:

• Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand as a Nurse Practitioner and hold a current Annual Practising Certificate.
• At least five years of recent acute and/or emergency nursing experience across the lifespan.
• Demonstrated experience in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients presenting with acute illness and injury.
• Experience in wound management, suturing, and fracture management.
• Strong clinical decision making, problem solving, and communication skills.
• Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and improving equitable health outcomes.
• A passion for clinical leadership, mentoring, and supporting the development of others.
