Join our established Early Psychosis Intervention Team (EPIT) and play a key role in supporting young adults experiencing their first episode of psychosis.

What you'll do

As a Psychiatrist, you will:

  • Provide specialist psychiatric assessment and treatment using Early Intervention principles
  • Contribute to the clinical leadership of the team
  • Work collaboratively with young people, families and whānau
  • Participate in community-based assessments and care planning
  • Liaise closely with inpatient and community mental health services
  • Support culturally responsive, recovery-oriented care

About EPIT

  • Our service supports young adults under 30 years experiencing a first episode of psychosis, as well as people presenting with an At-Risk Mental State.
  • We work closely with primary care and community mental health services and incorporate vocational, AOD, peer-support and culturally responsive approaches into our model of care.
  • Located in South Auckland, you’ll have the opportunity to work within one of New Zealand’s most vibrant and culturally diverse communities.

About you

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Experience in Community Mental Health
  • An interest or experience in Early Intervention / Youth Mental Health
  • A strong commitment to multidisciplinary teamwork
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including Māori, Pacific and refugee communities
  • Eligibility for vocational registration with MCNZ
  • A current MCNZ Annual Practising Certificate
  • This role is a Core Children's Worker under the Children's Act and requires full safety checks before commencement.
