Registered Nurse - Medical Short Stay

We are seeking compassionate and motivated Registered Nurses to join our Medical and Elder Services at Whangārei Hospital. Permanent full time and part time opportunities are available across our medical short stay wards, providing a diverse and rewarding clinical environment.

These positions would suit new graduate or early in career nurses looking to build a strong clinical foundation or an experienced nurse seeking a new challenge. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills while making a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and whānau.

Working alongside a supportive multidisciplinary team, you will care for patients with a wide range of acute and complex medical conditions, providing high-quality, person and whānau-centred care and contributing to positive health outcomes.

As a Registered Nurse in the medical short stay wards at Whangarei Hospital you will:

  • Deliver safe, high-quality nursing care in accordance with Nursing Council competencies and best practice standards.
  • Develop your clinical skills across a broad range of medical specialties.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional patient care.
  • Contribute to a positive ward culture focused on learning, support, and continuous improvement.

Our Medical and Elder Services team offers a supportive and welcoming environment where nurses are encouraged to develop professionally and expand their clinical knowledge. These wards provide exposure to a diverse range of medical presentations, making them an ideal place for new graduates and early-career nurses to build confidence, broaden their experience, and strengthen their clinical practice.

You will be supported by experienced nursing staff, educators, and multidisciplinary colleagues who are passionate about fostering learning and professional growth.

About you:

  • New Zealand Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • Initiative, flexibility, and a positive approach to patient care.
  • Good team player and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
