About the Role

As a Nurse Consultant within the National Public Health Service, you will provide expert professional and clinical nursing advice, leadership and education across the region, helping to strengthen public health nursing practice and ensure whānau and communities receive high-quality, equitable and culturally safe care. You will work closely with nursing leaders and multidisciplinary teams, using your public health expertise to influence clinical practice, quality, safety and service improvement.

You will lead and contribute to regional nursing portfolios, projects and quality improvement initiatives, supporting clinical governance, policy development, workforce development and the monitoring of population health outcomes. Working alongside the Regional Clinical Director Nursing, you will help translate strategy into practice, strengthen nursing capability and ensure the nursing voice informs regional and national decision-making, with a strong focus on Te Tiriti o Waitangi, equity and improved outcomes for Māori.

About you

You are an experienced senior nurse with strong clinical and professional leadership skills and a sound understanding of public health nursing. You bring the ability to influence across multidisciplinary environments, build trusted relationships and translate evidence into high-quality, equitable nursing practice.

You will bring:

  • Current Nursing Council of New Zealand registration and relevant senior nursing experience.
  • Strong clinical leadership, critical thinking and decision-making capability.
  • Experience supporting quality improvement, clinical governance and service development.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • A strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, cultural safety and achieving equitable health outcomes for Māori.
  • The ability to work collaboratively across nursing, clinical and multidisciplinary teams.
