About the role

Health Care Assistant's play a critical supporting role that is integral to our daily flow within the service. The HCA is responsible for equipment management, stock control and reprocessing of our endoscopy scopes including following infection and prevention control guidelines, and ensuring reprocessing is undertaken to maintain the procedure room throughout every day.

Core duties will typically be:

• Scope reprocessing as per IPC guidelines.
• Setting up of equipment in procedure rooms.
• Maintaining stock including; ordering, checking, reconciliation, stocktaking etc.
• General department housekeeping and championing IPC in the department.
• Supporting our nurses and other members of the healthcare team.
• Administrative duties as required to fulfil the role.

Our service operates Monday to Saturday between the hours of 7am to 7pm. Hours for this role will be rostered and typically worked 4 days per week from 1.30 – 5.30pm. Rosters are prepared 4 weeks in advance and there will be an expectation for Saturday work. Please note that while we operate a 6-day service, Saturday scheduling is based on service demand. We are open to discussing with successful applicant's days that may be preferred.

Salary range

This role belongs to the expired NZNO Collective Agreement and falls between the step 1 ($60,100 p.a) and Step 5 ($70,358 p.a pro rata) of the HCA scale.
