Are you an experienced Audiologist looking to take the next step in your career and extend your advanced clinical practice? Counties Manukau Audiology is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Audiologist to join our team as an Advanced Clinician Audiology Advanced Practice Audiology (AAP).
This is an exciting opportunity to provide advanced Audiology services within a specialist area of practice, working collaboratively with Otolaryngology Specialists and the wider multidisciplinary team. You will use your advanced clinical knowledge, reasoning and judgement to assess and manage patients referred for First Specialist Appointments and follow-up appointments within the Advanced Practice Audiology OME pathway.
About the Role
In this role, you will work autonomously alongside SMOs, MOSS and other members of the medical team to undertake First Specialist Assessments and follow-up appointments for patients within the Advanced Practice Audiology OME pathway. You will manage a varied caseload, including patients with highly complex presentations, identify serious or urgent pathologies and escalate care appropriately. You will use evidence-based practice to support management recommendations, including surgical and non-surgical options.
You will provide expert clinical assessment, diagnostic work-up and management within your area of specialty, while ensuring care is delivered in accordance with Te Whatu Ora Counties Manukau standards, NZ Audiological Society standards and other relevant clinical protocols. You will build strong therapeutic relationships with patients and whānau, communicate complex information effectively, obtain informed consent and contribute to coordinated multidisciplinary care.
As an Advanced Clinician, you will also provide clinical leadership within the Audiology service. This includes supporting advanced practice initiatives, sharing evidence-based knowledge, mentoring and coaching colleagues, supporting students and advanced practice trainees, and contributing to the development of Audiology practice within your area of specialty.
There will also be opportunities to contribute to service development, quality improvement and research. You will support the strategic development of the Advanced Practice Audiology OME pathway, contribute to models of care and clinical guidelines, and participate in audit, research and quality improvement initiatives that support better outcomes for patients and whānau.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will be an experienced Audiologist with advanced clinical skills and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.
You will have:
- A Master of Audiology degree or equivalent qualification
- Full NZAS Audiologist membership
- At least five years of relevant clinical experience
- A commitment to understanding and putting Te Tiriti o Waitangi into practice
- Strong clinical reasoning, judgement and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
