About the role

We are an Auckland-based business supplying food packaging products to business customers. We are seeking a Wholesale Business Manager to take responsibility for the ongoing management and commercial performance of the business.

This is a practical management role. You will oversee purchasing, sales, inventory, customer relationships and distribution, and manage overall business performance.

Location of Work: Auckland  

Type of employment: Full time, minimum 35 hours, up to 45 hours per week

Days required: Monday – Saturday

Pay: $35- $40 per hour, based on qualification and experience 

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and implement business plans, sales targets and operating budgets
  • Review customer demand, product performance and market conditions to determine product ranges
  • Select and maintain supplier relationships, negotiate prices and trading terms, and coordinate purchasing and delivery requirements.
  • Set and review selling prices, discounts and customer credit terms to maintain appropriate profit margins
  • Manage business customer relationships and identify new wholesale opportunities
  • Plan stock levels, monitor inventory, and coordinate storage and deliveries.
  • Allocate work and provide training and monitor staff performance.
  • Monitor and review sales data, gross margins, operating costs and customer accounts
  • Oversee compliance with relevant trading, workplace health and safety, and employment requirements  

Minimum requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in business, management, commerce or a closely related field; or
  • At least five years of relevant experience in wholesale trading, importing/exporting or business operations, and
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Sound judgement and strong organisation skills
