We have exciting opportunities for experienced Clinical Nurse Specialists to join the Adult Rehabilitation and Health of Older People (ARHOP) Division at Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Counties Manukau.
We are recruiting for:
- Clinical Nurse Specialist Community Stroke Rehabilitation (0.6 FTE Permanent)
- Clinical Nurse Specialist Adult Rehabilitation (Inpatient Stroke and Adult Rehabilitation) (0.6 FTE Permanent)

Our Service
The Community Stroke Rehabilitation (CSR) and Adult Rehabilitation (inpatient) Service provides comprehensive, interdisciplinary care across the continuum of stroke rehabilitation, from acute stroke care through to inpatient rehabilitation and community-based recovery.
Our teams work closely with patients, whānau and community partners to support recovery, maximise independence and improve long-term health outcomes. The service has strong links with regional stroke services and offers opportunities to contribute to innovation, quality improvement, research and service development.
What these roles involve
As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will provide advanced clinical expertise, nursing leadership, education and quality improvement support. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to influence service development, support evidence-based practice and improve patient outcomes.
Depending on the position, you will:
Community Stroke Rehabilitation CNS
- Provide specialist stroke nursing support in community settings.
- Support secondary stroke prevention and long-term vascular risk management.
- Coordinate care across primary, secondary and community services.
- Provide education and support to patients and whānau.
Adult Rehabilitation CNS
- Provide expert rehabilitation nursing leadership within inpatient rehabilitation.
- Support patients with complex rehabilitation needs, including neurological and general rehabilitation conditions.
- Lead clinical practice improvement and rehabilitation-focused nursing initiatives.
- Support rehabilitation planning and transitions of care.
About You
You will bring:
- Current New Zealand Registered Nurse Annual Practising Certificate.
- Significant post-registration nursing experience, preferably within stroke, rehabilitation, neurology, older persons' health or community services.
- Experience working in a senior nursing role with demonstrated clinical leadership capability.
- Relevant postgraduate qualification or a commitment to postgraduate study.
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
- Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
- Full New Zealand Driver's Licence.
