About the Role

We have exciting opportunities for Registered Nurses to join our Mental Health Inpatient team at Timaru Hospital.

Our inpatient service provides specialist care for people experiencing moderate to severe mental health challenges who require a period of intensive support, close observation, and treatment in a safe and therapeutic environment. As a Registered Nurse, you will play a key role in supporting tangata whaiora through their recovery journey, working alongside them, their whānau, and the wider multidisciplinary team to achieve positive outcomes.

Using a recovery-focused approach, you will undertake comprehensive clinical assessments, contribute to treatment and recovery planning, provide therapeutic interventions, and support individuals to build on their strengths and work towards their goals. About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate
  • A commitment to providing compassionate, recovery-focused care
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities
  • The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and quality improvement
  • The ability to remain calm and adaptable in a dynamic clinical environment
  • A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and improving equitable health outcomes for Māori

Desirable

  • Previous experience in Mental Health Nursing
  • Knowledge of recovery-oriented and strengths-based approaches to care
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary mental health services
  • Postgraduate study or professional development in mental health nursing

Salary Range

This role is covered by the terms and conditions of the relevant Nursing Collective Agreement and salary will be in accordance with the applicable pay scale, dependent on experience.
