Hours: Minimum 30 hours per week, including weekends and public holidays

Pay: NZD $25.00–$32.00 per hour, depending on experience

Responsibilities

·         Prepare and cook Chinese dishes, including Sichuan, Cantonese and Northern-style cuisine, using menu recipes and seasonal ingredients.

·         Maintain consistent taste, portion sizes and presentation.

·         Follow food safety and hygiene practices and maintain a clean commercial kitchen.

·         Manage ingredient procurement, storage and stock levels.

·         Work with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service.

·         Prepare meals for large groups, Chinese tour groups, buffets and special events.

·         Supervise and train junior kitchen staff.

Requirements

·         At least three years of full-time experience as a Chinese Chef in a restaurant or hotel.

·         Strong knowledge of Chinese cooking techniques, including wok cooking, steaming and braising.

·         Ability to prepare sauces, marinades and signature dishes independently.

·         Knowledge of commercial kitchen food safety and hygiene practices.

·         Reliable and responsible, with good communication and teamwork skills.

·         Ability to work under pressure and on a roster that includes weekends and public holidays.
