Great Kitchen, operated by Nirvaan Holdings Limited, is seeking an experienced and capable Chefs to join its kitchen team. The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing and cooking meals, maintaining food quality and hygiene, and supporting the efficient daily operation of the kitchen.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities are as follows but not limited to:

  • Developing menus, calculating food and labour costs, and arranging the purchase of food supplies.
  • Inspecting and maintaining the quality of dishes throughout preparation, cooking and presentation.
  • Liaising with managers, dietitians, kitchen personnel and waiting staff to resolve food preparation and service issues.
  • Demonstrating appropriate cooking methods and providing guidance on food preparation techniques and procedures.
  • Preparing, cooking and presenting a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes and quality standards.
  • Implementing and ensuring compliance with food hygiene, sanitation and safety regulations.
  • Assisting with the recruitment, selection and training of kitchen staff, where required.
  • Preserving and freezing food products using appropriate storage and preservation methods.
  • Follow workplace health and safety procedures.

 

Qualification, Experience and Skills:

  • Atleast three years of relevant experience in similar role or NZQCF Level 4 qualification or higher.
  • Knowledge of cooking techniques, food preparation and kitchen operations.
  • Understanding of food safety, food storage and hygiene practices.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage competing priorities.
  • Good communication, teamwork and time-management skills.

 

Hours per Week:

  • Guaranteed minimum hours of work per week - 30
  • Maximum hours of work per week 40

Pay Rate:

  • Minimum pay rate is $35.00 per hour 
  • Maximum pay rate is $48.00 per hour 

This is depending on relevant skills, experience and competency.

 

Work Location:

  • Work location at 88 Guyton Street, Whanganui, New Zealand.

Employment Type:

  •  Full time, permanent

 

The successful applicant will be required to work rostered shifts in accordance with the business's operational requirements.
