As a Chef, you will be responsible for supporting the efficient operation of the kitchen. This includes assisting the Director in managing the kitchens catering services, maximising sales and profitability, and ensuring high food preparation and customer service standards.

Additionally, you will be expected to lead and motivate the team to maintain excellence in all aspects of kitchen operations.

Working Hours: 30 - 40 hours Weekly

Hour Rate: $30.00 - $32.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, design, and execute a variety of traditional and contemporary Japanese dishes. 
  • Develop innovative food presentation styles and introduce fresh culinary ideas.
  • Experiment with new cooking techniques while prioritising the nutritional value of ingredients.
  • Offer healthier menu options for customers with dietary requirements, including low-calorie and low-cholesterol alternatives.
  • Maintain the highest standards for food storage, rotation, quality, and presentation.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior chefs and kitchen staff.
  • Ensure all kitchen operations comply with health and safety regulations.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a chef, ideally with a focus on Japanese or Asian cuisine.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant work experience or a vocational qualification in the culinary field.
  • Strong knowledge of food hygiene and safety regulations.
  • Creative culinary skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment, demonstrated through previous kitchen management or leadership experience.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with references to collaborative projects or kitchen initiatives.
