We are a busy cafe who provides only the highest quality products made from fresh ingredients. We are seeking aChef Assistant to join our kitchen team at our Te Puke cafe.
The purpose of this position is to use initiative and experience to continue to drive the restaurant forward whilst maintaining the food quality and customer service.
Reporting directly to the Director and working with the Restaurant Manager, some of your responsibilities include:
- Collect and prepare utensils, containers, pots, pans and other equipment for cooking.
- Weighing and measuring ingredients according to instructions.
- Ensuring that all ingredients are washed, peeled, cut, sliced or diced according to instructions.
- Ensuring that work station and food prep areas are clean and sanitised.
- Ensure that kitchen utensils, dishes, equipment and food supplies are properly stored and tagged.
- Ensure that all hygiene and health and safety requirements are met.
To be successful in this role you will need to have at least a Certificate level qualification or at least 1 year of relevant experience in a commercial kitchen setting. You must be able to multitask, follow instructions, maintain a clean and tidy workspace and have excellent personal hygiene.
This position would best suit someone who is highly motivated, has attention for detail and possesses a great knowledge of commerical kitchen operations. Someone who is proactive, honest and reliable would be the ideal candidate for this position. You must have a mature attitude and use initiative in the kitchen.
You will need to be available in the weekends and on public holidays. Please note that drug testing may be conducted as necessary in the assessment of your application to ensure that you will be able to work in the environment and with our equipment successfully.
We anticipate providing a guaranteed 30 hours of work per week for this position and are looking at wages between $27 per hour and $29 an hour.
All applicants will need to be able to lawfully work full time in New Zealand.
