Key Responsibilities
- Plan menus in collaboration with management, considering seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
- Research to understand client preferences for cooking new recipes.
- Estimate food and labour costs to support effective budgeting and cost control
- Order supplies, receive deliveries, and ensure all ingredients meet quality and safety standards
- Maintain proper storage of all food items, including freezing and preservation as needed
- Ensure sufficient stock levels through regular stock-takes and inventory control
- Prepare and cook food using appropriate cooking techniques while maintaining consistency and quality
- Monitor quality and presentation of dishes at all stages of preparation
- Supervise and coordinate the kitchen team, delegating tasks and ensuring health and safety compliance
- Maintain a clean, hygienic kitchen by preparing and enforcing cleaning schedules and inspecting all areas after cleaning
- Investigate and resolve any customer complaints related to food quality or kitchen service
- Monitor kitchen operations and troubleshoot issues as they arise
- Conduct regular equipment maintenance checks to reduce breakdowns
- Maintain accurate records when required, including stock usage, wastage, and staff rosters
- Participate in hiring processes, including CV screening, interviews, and staff training
- Perform any other reasonable duties as directed by the employer
Pay rate
Minimum $28/hour, maximum $32/hour
Guaranteed hours of work per week
Permanent, fulltime, minimum 30 hours per week
Key requirements
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
- Strong knowledge of Vietnamese cuisine preferred
- Physically fit to handle the demands of the role.
- Full-time availability with flexibility to work on public holidays
- Able to work rostered shifts between:
o 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM Saturday-Wednesday
o 9:00 AM and 9:00 PM Thursday and Friday
- No criminal record
- Hold a valid New Zealand work rights
