Jamong Ltd trading as Koo Koo Korean Bistro Restaurant is looking for experienced Chef(s) specialising in Korean cuisine.

We are a small, lively bistro restaurant on Dominion Road Auckland.  We serve authentic and contemporary Korean cuisine inspired by the European cuisine, including Korean Fried Chicken and other authentic Korean foods like savoury pancakes and flavourful noodles, as well as ample vegetarian choices like kimchi fried rice and others.

This is a full time, permanent position with guaranteed weekly working hours of 30 hours. We will offer the wage from $27.50 - $32.00 per hour based on your experiences and skills. 

No formal cooking qualification is required for this position but previous relevant experience is essential

Key points of experience we are looking for:

  • Must have at least 2-4 years of work experience in a commercial kitchen
  • Must have at least 2 years’ experience in Asian cuisine such as Korean/Japanese or relevant training
  • Cookery training at Level 4 or higher is an advantage but not mandatory
  • Good knowledge and skills in Asian and European culinary
  • Ability to make foods on time
  • Ability to work under pressure without supervision
  • Good kitchen management and time organization skills under pressure including stocktaking and placing order
  • Good communicator
  • Having a strong team spirit
  • Innovative ideas and enthusiasm for food
  • Flexibility on working hours/ability to work shifts, weekends, and late night
  • High standard of knowledge of food hygiene and safety

 Key duties and responsibilities:

 Preparing the highest quality of foods and standard of services to ensure the customers’ satisfaction

  • Preparing food items
  • Menu planning and costing in association with other chefs
  • Monitoring the quality of raw and cooked food products to restaurant standards
  • Ordering and storing
  • Food Control Plan knowledge
  • Enforcing food hygiene, health and safety including cleaning schedules
  • Training and demonstrating techniques to junior kitchen staff
  • Managing food storage and preservation
