We are seeking a passionate and experienced Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team in Wellington. You will be responsible for preparing a variety of high-quality meals, maintaining food safety standards, and contributing to a creative and consistent dining experience. This is a full-time permanent position with opportunities for growth.

  • About the Role:

    • Permanent full-time, minimum 30 hours per week, rostered including weekends
    • Pay $30 to $40 per hour based on skills and experience
  • Key Responsibilities:

    • Prepare, cook, and present meals according to the menu and daily prep list

    • Maintain consistent portioning, quality, and presentation of dishes

    • Manage time efficiently to meet service demands during peak periods

    • Ensure compliance with all food hygiene, safety, and cleaning protocols

    • Support inventory management by monitoring stock and minimizing waste

    • Contribute ideas for menu development and seasonal offerings

    • Supervise and train junior kitchen staff if required

    • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment


    Skills and Qualifications:

    • Minimum 3 years’ experience working as a chef in a commercial kitchen

    • Experience with Asian fusion or Filipino cuisine is a strong advantage

    • Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment

    • Sound knowledge of food safety regulations (NZ Food Act 2014)

    • Culinary qualification (NZQF Level 4 or equivalent) preferred

    • Strong teamwork, communication, and organisational skills

    • Flexible to work on weekends, early mornings, or public holidays as required

    • Reliable and able to manage time effectively with minimal supervision
