Our Takeaway is a busy and growing takeaway shop based in Auckland. We are now looking for experienced cooks who specializes in Chinese hot food to join our friendly and hardworking team.

An hourly rate between $26 and $32 will be offered, based on the candidate’s level of experience

Job location:Auckland

Employment type: full-time, permanent 

Minimum Hours per week: 40 hours per week 

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Prepare,season and cook a variety of Asian/ Chinese dishes, including

                 -Fried rice, chow mein, chop suey

                 -Stir-fried meat, seafood, and vegetable dishes

                -Dumplings, soups, egg-based dishes, tofu dishes, and combination meals and more 

  • Work with gas woks, hot plates, and kitchen equipment.
  • Maintain food quality, presentation, and hygiene standards.
  • Monitor stock levels of ingredients, and assist with ordering supplies when needed. 
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with New Zealand food safety regulations.
  • Occasionally assist with kitchen prep or coordination with other kitchen staff (burger & fryer section)if needed
  • Contribute to development of new dishes or specials.
  • Supervise and support junior kitchen staff when required.

What We’re Looking For:

  • At least 3 years of experience as a cook /chef (preferably in Chinese or Asian cuisine).
  • Strong wok skills and ability to handle busy service periods.
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
  • A positive team player with good time management.
  • Cookery qualifications are a bonus but not essential.
  • No any criminal convictions and be able pass a drug test
