Cooks required 

We have two Cook positions available in our busy takeaway business in Opotiki.

You must already have the skills and knowledge to be able to:

  • Plan menus and specials
  • Be able to estimate food requirements for ordering supplies a
  • Check all foodstuffs to ensure quality
  • Cook dishes and snacks as per menu
  • Operate ovens, grills, and other cooking equipment with ease
  • Cooking high-quality food items without supervision in a timely manner.
  • Seasoning food during cooking
  • Portioning food and adding gravies, sauces, and garnishes
  • Ensure food is stored in temperature-controlled facilities 
  • Preparing food to meet special dietary requirements
  • Keep your work areas and equipment clean and tidy, ensuring sanitation practices are always in compliance with hygiene regulations.
  • Assist with training and directing Kitchen hands as required
  • At all times, work with safe practices following kitchen safety standards.

    You will have at least 2-3 years of work experience in a restaurant or hotel environment.  You must be flexible to work late evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.

    Remuneration will be between $28 to $30 per hour depending on experience and a minimum of 30 hours of work per week is guaranteed.
