Position: Chef

Location: Auckland

Term: Permanent full time position

Wage: $29.66 to $34

Hours of work: Minimum 30 hours per week, Maximum 50 hours per week, shifted by roster from Monday to Sunday

 

We require the candidate:

  •  At least three years relating full time working experience or NZQF Diploma  qualification equivalent is required 

We prefer the candidate:

  • Adaptable to change and able to multi-tasks
  • Able to work under pressure.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Plan and organize the preparation and cooking of food for buffet service, ensuring a diverse and appealing menu selection.

  • Estimate food and labor costs, and manage the ordering of food supplies to maintain efficient kitchen operations.

  • Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages, from preparation to presentation, ensuring consistency and adherence to standards.

  • Collaborate with Managers, Dietitians, and kitchen/waiting staff to address food preparation issues and dietary requirements.

  • Demonstrate cooking techniques and provide guidance to kitchen staff on procedures and best practices.

  • Prepare and cook a variety of dishes for the buffet, ensuring timely replenishment and freshness.

  • Enforce and educate staff on hygiene and safety regulations to maintain a clean and compliant kitchen environment.

  • Assist in the selection and training of kitchen staff to uphold service quality and teamwork.

  • Oversee food preservation processes, including freezing and storing, to minimize waste and ensure ingredient longevity.

  • Assist with other duties as required by the business
