Hong Kong Chinese Takeaway Restaurant in Turangi is looking for 2 full-time Chinese Cooks to join us, mainly responsible for cooking Chinese style dishes. This is a full time permanent position, you will work 30-40 hours per week on the roster (minimum 30 hours guarantee), with hourly rate $25.00-30.00, depends on your skills, qualification and work experience. We open 7 days a week, please be aware that you may need to work on nights, weekends and public holidays.

Key duties will include:

  • examining foodstuffs to ensure quality
  • regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment
  • preparing and cooking food
  • seasoning food during cooking
  • portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes
  • storing food in temperature controlled facilities
  • preparing food to meet special dietary requirements
  • may plan menus and estimate food requirements
  • may train other kitchen staff and apprentices
  • any other duties that may be assigned by the owner.

Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of work experience in cooking Chinese food
  • A relevant qualification at NZQF level 2 or higher
  • Available to work on weekends and public holidays when required
  • Clean police certificate
  • Drug free
