Mosgiel Tavern requires a Cook to assist our chefs in our busy 7 day restaurant.
Job location: Mosgiel, Dunedin
Rate of Pay: $25.00 to $30.00
Hours of Work : Fulltime (minimum guaranteed 30 hours per week)
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook food according to recipes and established standards.
- Ensure food is prepared in a timely and efficient manner.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen and work areas.
- Store food properly, following safety protocols.
- Examine food for quality and freshness.
- Season food and prepare sauces, gravies, and garnishes.
- Portion food onto plates and ensure presentation standards are met.
- Train and supervise other kitchen staff as needed.
- Assist in ordering food supplies and equipment.
- Follow all health and safety regulations.
- Prepare food to meet special dietary needs or requirements.
- May assist in menu planning and food cost estimations.
- Maintain accurate records of food inventory.
- May assist in cleaning and dishwashing. Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Cook in a commercial kitchen environment.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and cooking methods.
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Ability to handle kitchen equipment and tools safely.
- Food handling and safety certificates (e.g., Food Safety Supervisor Certificate) may be required.
- Required Experience:
- At least 1 years of experience as a Cook in a commercial kitchen.
- Experience with ovens, grills, fryers
- Able to work at a fast pace
- Flexibilty - weekdays, nights and weekends rostered basis
