We are looking for a Thai Chef to join our team. 

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of related work experience OR

  • At least a related NZ Register Level 4 qualification may substitute for the experience (overseas qualifications must be comparable to the standard of the New Zealand qualification) OR

  • The National Skill Standard Testing Level 1 (Thai Cook) from Thailand AND

  • Knowledge of Thai food ingredients and cooking technique

Job Descriptions

  • Plan menus specific to Thai cuisine, taking into consideration customer preferences and seasonal availability of ingredients.

  • Estimate food and labour costs to support efficient budgeting and cost control.

  • Order and maintain inventory of food supplies required for Thai dish preparation.

  • Monitor the quality of dishes throughout all stages of preparation, cooking, and presentation to ensure consistency and adherence to standards.

  • Liaise with kitchen and waiting staff to discuss food preparation requirements and resolve any service issues.

  • Demonstrate Thai cooking techniques and advise kitchen staff on authentic preparation methods and procedures.

  • Prepare and cook a variety of Thai dishes according to traditional and modern recipes.

  • Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations, and enforce these standards in the kitchen.

  • May be responsible for selecting, training, and supervising kitchen staff.

  • May freeze, store, and preserve food items to ensure availability and minimise waste.

  • This is a full-time and permanent position

  • The wage ranges from $29.66 to $32.00 per hour, depending on your skills and experience, and you will be paid weekly

  • Holiday pay and sick leave will be paid according to the law

  • You will be working at Atrium on Elliott, 21–25 Elliott Street, Auckland

  • You will work according to a roster, with a guarantee of 30 hours each week (a maximum of 48 hours).
