Commis Chef

As we continue to grow, we are planning to expand our operations. 

MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE:

To assist the owners with storage, preparation and cooking of all food items at Lowbrow. Adhere to our Food Control Plan or FCP.

To execute your role to a high level to maintain the reputation of Lowbrow. by performing the following duties to a high standard.

🔧 Key Responsibilities:

• To maintain quality control on all prep items and check seasoning and cooking degree/Doneness with the senior chefs.

• To ensure minimum kitchen wastage. 

• To follow all recipes.

• To follow the directions and instructions of the senior chefs & restaurant manager.

• To learn and record lessons and recipes from other members of the kitchen. 

• Ensure that your work area and others is always clean, and that you work in a hygienic, safe manor.

• To follow the cleaning schedules for the kitchen and clean the section and other areas as directed. 

• To ensure stock is controlled and rotated. Accept and store deliveries 

• To ensure that mise en place is completed in your section. 

• To report any maintenance issues to the Head Chef immediately. 

• To comply with the conditions of the Food Control Plan.

• To comply with the House Rules

• To be flexible and willing to help others at busy times if required. i.e Kitchen Hand section

• To write accurate order lists and inform the senior chefs of items needed before we run out.

✅Requirements for the job:

• At least 2 years of relevant work experience OR relevant Diploma qualification or above

• High standard of food safety and hygiene practices

• Ability to manage kitchen operations, storage, preparation and cooking of all food items effectively 

• Be physically fit

• Full time availability, always available on weekends and public holidays.

• Able to do both morning and evening shifts across a 7 days roster. Able to follow flexible weekly timetable 

• Reliable and having a positive attitude

• Have good time management skills, be well organized and capable of multitasking

• No criminal record.

• The ability to work in a multicultural environment.

• Must be a New Zealand citizen or resident.
