We are seeking experienced and motivated chefs to join our dynamic culinary team at Oriental West Banquet, a large-format buffet restaurant opening Westgate, Auckland. This is a high-volume, fast-paced kitchen environment that will cater to up to 340 guests in the dining area and 60 guests at the bar.

Successful candidates will be responsible for preparing a wide range of Asian and international buffet dishes, maintaining food safety standards, and ensuring smooth daily kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook a wide variety of buffet dishes (hot and cold) to a high standard

  • Oversee assigned stations during buffet service (grill, carving, stir-fry, seafood, dessert, etc.)

  • Ensure all food is presented in line with restaurant standards

  • Monitor and maintain stock levels, prep, and inventory

  • Follow all health and safety procedures, including cleaning and hygiene protocols

  • Coordinate with the head chef and other team members during service

  • Assist with menu planning and development if required


Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of professional chef experience (buffet/hotel experience preferred)

  • Proven ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced kitchen

  • Knowledge of international and Asian cuisines (Filipino, Chinese, Japanese, Western, etc.)

  • Able to work weekends, holidays, and split shifts as needed

  • Team player with good communication skills

  • Able to work under pressure with excellent time management
