We are seeking experienced and motivated chefs to join our dynamic culinary team at Oriental West Banquet, a large-format buffet restaurant opening Westgate, Auckland. This is a high-volume, fast-paced kitchen environment that will cater to up to 340 guests in the dining area and 60 guests at the bar.
Successful candidates will be responsible for preparing a wide range of Asian and international buffet dishes, maintaining food safety standards, and ensuring smooth daily kitchen operations.
Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and cook a wide variety of buffet dishes (hot and cold) to a high standard

Oversee assigned stations during buffet service (grill, carving, stir-fry, seafood, dessert, etc.)

Ensure all food is presented in line with restaurant standards

Monitor and maintain stock levels, prep, and inventory

Follow all health and safety procedures, including cleaning and hygiene protocols

Coordinate with the head chef and other team members during service

Assist with menu planning and development if required
Requirements:

Minimum 2 years of professional chef experience (buffet/hotel experience preferred)

Proven ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced kitchen

Knowledge of international and Asian cuisines (Filipino, Chinese, Japanese, Western, etc.)

Able to work weekends, holidays, and split shifts as needed

Team player with good communication skills
