we are looking for 1x sous chef, 1x chef de partie, 1x head chef to be a part of our team at Silk Road Restaurant, Rotorua. Silk road is a modern fusion restaurant offering a wide range of cuisines. 

These will be full time permanent positions. These position require working on weekends.

You will be required to work a minimum of 30 hours/week and a maximum of 45 hours/week

Sous Chef Role Overview –

Wage/Salary for Sous Chef - $30 per hour

 

·       Assist the Head Chef in menu planning, maintain food costs under control through effective ordering of supplies, and monitor labour costs through effective roster planning.

·       Have a thorough understanding of local market produce, and a passion to keep up to date with modern trends.

·       Coordinate between different kitchen sections (e.g., grill, saute, etc).

·       Assist the Head Chef to manage the team by providing guidance, support, and direction to achieve financial results.

·       Work with the Head Chef to drive and achieve desired results as well as exceed goals.

·       Responsible for running seasonal specials.

·       Keep a track of stock and raw materials and order stock as required OR inform directors of the requirements.

·       Ensure all health and safety measures are in place and the kitchen remains compliant as per the government regulations.

·       Preserve food properly.

·       Train and interview staff when required.

 

Qualification/Work Experience

To be successful, you will need to have 2 - 3 years of relevant work experience.

 

 

 

Chef de Partie Role Overview-

Wage/Salary for Chef de Partie - $28 per hour

·       Assist the Sous Chef and the Head Chef in menu planning, maintaining food costs under control through effective ordering of supplies, and monitoring labour costs through effective roster planning.

·       Manage a specific section of the kitchen, such as grill, Asian hot or sauté, ensuring smooth operations during service.

·       Manage prep work, cook dishes, and help with buffet replenishment.

·       Assist the Head Chef and Sous Chef to manage the team by providing guidance, support and direction to achieve financial results.

·       Work with the Head Chef and Sous Chef to drive and achieve desired results as well as exceeding goals.

·       Be able to train staff.

·       Be able to independently manage a section of the kitchen in monitoring, preparing, garnishing, and presenting food.

·       Able to maintain strict health and safety standards.

·       Preserve food, raw materials, grocery items, meat etc through freezing and other methods.

Qualification/Work Experience

To be successful, you will need to have 1-2 years of relevant work experience.

 

 

Head Chef Role Overview-

Wage/Salary for Head Chef- $32 per hour

·       Ability to contribute towards menu development, maintaining food costs under control through effective ordering of supplies, and monitoring labour costs through effective roster planning.

·       Strive to exceed guest and employee satisfaction every day, while maximizing the

financial performance in all areas of responsibility.

·       Ensure quality and consistency across a varied buffet-style menu.

·       Manage the entire kitchen team, including sous chefs, CDPs, and junior staff, by providing guidance, support, and direction to achieve financial results.

·       Oversee kitchen scheduling, inventory management, and equipment maintenance.

·       Work with the team to drive and achieve desired results as well as exceeding goals.

·       Be able to train staff

·       Monitor, prepare, garnish, and present food.

·       Able to maintain strict health and safety standards

·       Play an active role in recruitment.

Qualification/Work Experience

To be successful, you will need to have  2-3 years of relevant work experience and a relevant culinary qualification ay diploma or higher level.
