The Hard Antler is a well-established restaurant and bar in Haast, offering hearty meals and friendly service in one of New Zealand’s most beautiful and remote regions. We serve a wide variety of customers, from locals to international tourists, and pride ourselves on delivering consistently great food in a warm, welcoming environment.

The Role:
We are currently seeking two Chefs to join our busy kitchen team. You will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality meals, maintaining excellent hygiene standards, and helping manage kitchen operations in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

·  Prepare and cook menu items to a consistently high standard

·  Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen

·  Manage stock, assist with ordering, and ensure proper food storage

·  Ensure all food safety and hygiene procedures are strictly followed

·  Assist with planning menus and estimating food and labour costs

·  Provide guidance and training to junior kitchen staff or kitchenhands

·  Collaborate with the kitchen team during busy service periods

·  Contribute to menu development and daily specials

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience or a relevant qualification.
  • Understanding of food safety and kitchen hygiene standards
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain attention to detail
  • Team player with a positive attitude and good communication skills
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays
