What you will be doing day-to-day:

• Responsible for the preparation and cooking of food items according to approved specifications and recipes, ensuring food is prepared on time and within designated schedules.
• Planning menus, estimating food costs
• Monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation.
• Check all materials and foodstuffs, ensuring they are used before spoilage.
• Keep all food preparation areas clean at all times.
• Freezing, storing, and preserving food following proper procedures.
• Training kitchen staffs, supervise tasks performed by assistants and other workers in the designated section.
• Demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures
• Maintain efficient sanitation services, garbage disposal, and chilling systems in compliance with regulations and requirements.
• Ensure machinery is operated, cleaned, and stored correctly; kitchen drawers and shelves are kept clean and tidy, with regular inspections and timely corrections.

 To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

• At least 2 years of relevant work experience, including experience in food preparation, cooking and food presentation skills; or a relevant qualification of NZQA level 4 or higher qualification in any field.
• A positive and flexible attitude as you will be required to work on the weekends, public holidays and late hours.
• Knowledge of or willingness to learn the details of Vietnamese cuisine is highly desirable.
• Good understanding of food, health, and safety regulations.

•Specialisation in Vietnamese cuisine is preferred.

•Good communication skills and ability to follow kitchen systems and processes.

Pay rate: $28 - $35 per hour.
