Our in-house restaurant serves authentic Chinese cuisine—particularly Northern and Shanghainese dishes—to meet the needs of our diverse guests, including a strong base of Chinese clientele. We are currently seeking an experienced Cook to join our team and uphold our culinary standards.

Purpose of the Role

To prepare and cook high-quality Chinese dishes that meet customer expectations and uphold our company’s reputation for authenticity and excellence.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a wide range of Chinese dishes, including regional specialties
  • Examine food ingredients to ensure freshness, quality, and suitability for cooking
  • Regulate the temperature and operation of ovens, grills, and other cooking equipment
  • Season dishes appropriately during cooking to achieve authentic Chinese flavour profiles
  • Portion, plate, and garnish dishes with sauces, gravies, and decorative elements
  • Store food properly in temperature-controlled environments to maintain safety and quality
  • Prepare meals according to special dietary needs when required
  • Plan menus and estimate food and ingredient requirements as needed
  • Train and supervise kitchen staff or apprentices when required
  • Ensure full compliance with food hygiene and safety regulations
  • Conduct regular stocktakes and manage inventory levels effectively
  • Participate in regular team meetings to better understand customer preferences and service expectations
  • Oversee and implement routine cleaning procedures and waste disposal systems
  • Monitor and maintain kitchen equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety
  • Perform any other related duties as reasonably assigned by management

 
Skills and Experience Required

  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience as a cook, preferably in Chinese cuisine or a relevant Level 4 culinary qualification
  • Strong knowledge of traditional Chinese ingredients, cooking techniques, and cultural food presentation
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Good teamwork and communication skills
