Job Title: Cook
Pay Rate: $25 to $30 per hour
Days of Work: Monday to Saturday
Hours of Work: Minimum 30 to Maximum 45 hours per week

We are seeking a qualified and motivated Cook to join our team in Christchurch. The successful candidates will work under the supervision of senior kitchen staff and contribute to the preparation and presentation of a variety of menu items. You will be expected to maintain high standards of food hygiene, safety, and quality in line with operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing, seasoning, cooking and presenting a variety of dishes including meat, fish, vegetables, sauces, soups, and other food items
  • Examining food to ensure quality and consistency in taste, appearance, and portion control
  • Regulating temperatures of ovens, grills, and other cooking equipment
  • Operating and maintaining kitchen equipment including fryers, grills, ovens, and microwaves
  • Storing food in temperature-controlled facilities and monitoring use-by dates
  • Ensuring cleanliness of kitchen, work surfaces, cooking equipment, and utensils
  • Following food safety and hygiene regulations and maintaining records as required
  • Planning menus in consultation with chefs or management
  • Training and supervising kitchen assistants where necessary
  • Receiving deliveries, checking stock, and rotating inventory
  • Assisting in minimising food waste and managing portions appropriately
  • Any other kitchen-related tasks assigned from time to time

Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Willingness to work weekends and public holidays
  • Physically fit with the ability to stand for long periods
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Relevant experience of at least 3 YEARS OR related qualification required in cookery or hospitality which has the subjects.
  • Passion for cooking and high attention to detail
  • Clean criminal history and ability to pass any pre-employment checks if required
