We are looking for creative and talented chefs to look after all aspects of meal
preparation. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for the culinary arts and
a flair for creating innovative, high-quality dishes. This full-time, permanent position
is based in the Hawke Bay region with a minimum commitment of 30 hours per
week. As a chef, you will be responsible for the smooth operation of the kitchen,
maintaining exceptional food standards.
As a Chef you will be responsible for:
Prepare and cook a variety of dishes following established recipes or creating
new ones.
Plan and design menus that cater to customer preferences, seasonal
availability, and dietary requirements.
Ensure all meals meet high standards for taste, presentation, and portion
consistency.
Order food supplies and ingredients, and manage inventory effectively to
minimise waste and maintain cost efficiency.
Maintain a clean, organised kitchen while ensuring compliance with food
safety, hygiene, and health regulations.
Monitor food costs and make informed adjustments to inventory or menu
items to support profitability.
Collaborate with restaurant management, waitstaff, and fellow chefs to ensure
efficient kitchen operations and an excellent guest experience.
Work with managers, dietitians, and kitchen staff to resolve any concerns
related to food preparation or dietary accommodations.
Candidates must have 2 to 3 years of relevant experience, preferably within
restaurants or takeaway. Experience in cooking Indian cuisine is essential,
with skills in Tandoori and curry cooking. Applicants should be familiar with
basic food safety and hygiene practices and capable of working effectively in a fast-
paced kitchen environment.
