Employment Type: Full-time (Guaranteed 30 hours per week), Permanent
Pay Range: $25.00 – $30.00 per hour

We are a reputable restaurant based in Christchurch, and we are currently looking to expand our team. We are seeking three experienced Chefs to join us in delivering high-quality cuisine and exceptional service.

Our restaurant operates 7 days a week, and shifts are scheduled on a rotating roster from Monday to Sunday. Applicants must be available to work weekends and late evenings as required.

Requirements:

A minimum of three years of relevant work experience  OR  a relevant qualification at level 4 and above

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan diverse menus that accommodate dietary requirements and seasonal ingredients.

  • Manage procurement by ordering food and supplies while implementing effective cost control to reduce wastage and maximize profitability.

  • Accurately estimate food and labour costs, ensuring efficient staffing and high-quality service.

  • Prepare and present a wide variety of Indian dishes, including curries, tandoori items, biryanis, and regional specialties, while continuously refining techniques.

  • Demonstrate new cooking methods and equipment use to team members, encouraging a culture of learning and innovation.

  • Monitor the quality of both raw and prepared food to maintain food safety and culinary standards.

  • Collaborate with management, nutritionists, and front-of-house staff to resolve food preparation and service issues.

  • Ensure proper use, cleaning, and storage of all kitchen equipment and maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.

  • Train staff regularly on hygiene practices and uphold high standards of cleanliness.

  • Assist in recruiting and training new and existing kitchen staff as needed.

  • Oversee food preservation and storage, including freezing processes, to maintain food safety and quality.
