Overview:

We are looking for an experienced chef to join our vibrant ramen restaurant. Ramen Takara is a Japanese noodle house established in 1978. We cater authentic Japanese ramen and dishes ranging from our famous pork gyoza to karaage chicken.

 

Location: 4 Anzac Road, Browns Bay / 272 Ponsonby Road, Ponsonby

Working hours: 40 hours per week – full time position
10 am to 11pm, Tuesday to Sunday. The timing of working hours will be set out in a roster.
Wage: $28/h

   

◼️Responsibilities:
・Plan menus and creating new dishes regularly
・Oversee the kitchen operations and supervise other chefs and kitchen hands 
・Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations within the kitchen area
・Hire and Train new kitchen staff in efficient cooking procedures and high standards of cooking
・Ensure appealing plate presentation and high food quality
・Gathering all necessary ingredients based on each recipe
・Managing stock and placing orders for food suppliers
・Communicating food issues with supplies, managers and other chefs
・Estimate food material and labour amount and cost
・Experiment with recipes and suggest new ingredients
・Prepare and cook food on the menu in a timely manner 
・Prepare and cook appropriate amounts of stock and avoid wastage
・Modifying recipes to meet customers’ requirement and requests (e.g.remove dairy, reduce salt)
・Carry out specialised cooking duties

 

◼️Requirement:
A minimum of 3 years of comparative commercial chef experience
Or having a related Level 4 qualification or above + more than 1 year of commercial chef experience
・Experience cooking ramen or other Japanese dishes in a commercial setting is advantageous
