Chef

We are looking for a full-time permanent Chef to join our team in our cosy, homely cafe and bar that serves great food, coffee, wine and beer with an open outdoor seating area. We host team breakfast/lunch, private & corporate functions which can extend to after hours as well and after work drinks. We have a great selection of cabinet food for people on the go. We also cater for in house functions, outside functions, corporate functions, parties, and other events.

Hourly rate ranges from $30 to $35, depending on skills and experience.

Please note we are a small tourism town where workload is heavier during the summer season (November-March) where we have a much  larger team, and lighter during the winter, from May till August where often you are sole charge so responsible for all duties in the kitchen. You will be required to live here both seasons; it is likely that we can secure shared accommodation for you. For this reason, the position would suit single persons or couples (but not so much families) who enjoy the outdoor activities. 

The main tasks will be:

*  Consistently deliver high standards of product in the kitchen

*  Monitoring and adhering to hygiene regulations and standards

*  Food preparation and cooking

*  Ensuring presentation of all menu items to correct specifications and correct portions sizes

*  Ensuring the correct procedures and methods for all recipes are being followed

*  Correctly manage prep lists on daily basis

*  Correctly manage the ordering process daily and liaise with suppliers when needed

*  Manage deliveries and invoices of goods being delivered

*  Assist with the introduction of new menus

*  Monitor the speed that our product reaches our guests

*  Point of contact for all kitchen issues addressed by the manager

*  Ensure all staff are well presented and adhere to uniform guidelines

* Reporting complaints, accidents and incidents immediately and documenting on the appropriate form

The successful candidate will have:

At least 3 year of relevant work experience

Ideally a relevant qualification preferred

Can work unsupervised or part of a team

Willing to undergo pre-employment drug screening

A reasonable level of computer literacy

Calm, professional temperament and good communication skills

Strong work ethics
