Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook a variety of Chinese-style meals, including stir-fry, rice, noodle, and soup-based dishes, following company standards.

  • Supervise and assist kitchen staff in preparing ingredients and ensuring dish consistency.

  • Operate commercial kitchen equipment such as woks, fryers, steamers, and preparation tools safely and efficiently.

  • Maintain food safety standards and hygiene regulations in accordance with New Zealand’s food handling requirements.

  • Monitor kitchen inventory and notify the manager when supplies need replenishing.

  • Collaborate with the team to ensure timely food preparation during peak hours.


Skills & Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in a commercial kitchen or takeaway setting.

  • A New Zealand Level 4 Certificate in Cookery (or equivalent) can substitute for work experience.

  • Solid understanding of food safety practices (e.g., proper food storage, cleanliness, avoiding cross-contamination).

  • Ability to follow standardised recipes with attention to detail.

  • Physically fit, able to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive kitchen tasks.

  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative team attitude.
