What you'll be doing as a chef
- Overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring efficient and effective workflows estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies
- Developing and refining our menu to showcase seasonal ingredients and innovative culinary techniques
- Maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene in the kitchen
- Mentoring and training kitchen staff to uphold our culinary excellence
- Collaborating with the management team to plan and execute the effective service
- Staying up to date with industry trends and implementing new ideas to enhance the dining experience & demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures
What you'll be doing as a cook
- examining foodstuffs to ensure quality
- regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment
- preparing and cooking food
- seasoning food during cooking
- portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes
- storing food in temperature-controlled facilities
- preparing food to meet special dietary requirements
- may plan menus and estimate food requirements
- may train other kitchen staff and apprentices
What we're looking for
- Two to three years of relevant work experience OR a relevant qualification at NZQF Diploma for a Chef and NZQF Level 2 or 3 for a Cook
- Excellent knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
- Adaptable and creative mindset, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Must have flexibility on working weekends, days/hours to cover leave and peak trade periods as per the roster as the store is open 12.30 pm to 10.00 pm Monday to Saturday & 4.30 pm to 10.00 pm Sunday.
