What you'll be doing as a chef

  • Overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring efficient and effective workflows estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies
  • Developing and refining our menu to showcase seasonal ingredients and innovative culinary techniques
  • Maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene in the kitchen
  • Mentoring and training kitchen staff to uphold our culinary excellence
  • Collaborating with the management team to plan and execute the effective service
  • Staying up to date with industry trends and implementing new ideas to enhance the dining experience & demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures

What you'll be doing as a cook

  • examining foodstuffs to ensure quality
  • regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment
  • preparing and cooking food
  • seasoning food during cooking
  • portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes
  • storing food in temperature-controlled facilities
  • preparing food to meet special dietary requirements
  • may plan menus and estimate food requirements
  • may train other kitchen staff and apprentices

What we're looking for

  • Two to three years of relevant work experience OR a relevant qualification at NZQF Diploma for a Chef and NZQF Level 2 or 3 for a Cook
  • Excellent knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
  • Adaptable and creative mindset, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  •     Must have flexibility on working weekends, days/hours to cover leave and peak trade periods as per the roster as the store is open 12.30 pm to 10.00 pm Monday to Saturday & 4.30 pm to 10.00 pm Sunday.
