The Garden Café Taupo is a popular, vibrant café known for fresh, locally sourced food and great coffee, set in a relaxed garden environment. We pride ourselves on quality, consistency, and friendly service.

We are looking for two motivated chefs to join our kitchen team. You will play a key role in daily food preparation and service, ensuring all dishes meet our high standards of taste and presentation.

This is a permanent, full-time role guaranteeing a minimum of 30 hours per week, with a pay rate of $23.50 to $25.00 per hour.

Key Responsibilities:
    • Prepare, cook, and present breakfast, lunch, and cabinet dishes according to set recipes and quality standards.
    • Participate in menu planning, portion control, and food costing.
    • Maintain kitchen hygiene and adhere to the Food Control Plan.
    • Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and inventory.
    • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff to maintain performance and efficiency
    • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace health standards.
      

Requirements:
    • A certificate in Cookery at level 4 or above.
    • Or have a minimum of 2 years’ commercial cooking experience.
    • Ability to work under pressure during busy service periods.
    • Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays.
    • Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
    • A professional, positive attitude and good teamwork skills.
